It’s been a bit of a whirlwind few weeks for us but this week in particular. We’ve made the hard decision to put our outdoor lifestyle first and move to the Peak District and this week we finally found a lovely place to live in this handsome village… Truth be told, I’m terrified. I’m giving up my position as deputy editor on a magazine I love, for something equally exciting but in a slightly different industry. And we all know how much I love being a beginner, not. We’re also moving away from all of our lovely friends and neighbours on the lane – a set-up so wonderful that it couldn’t be replicated. If that wasn’t enough I’m also getting my hair chopped and coloured in what’s probably my most radical hair change in the last 14 years, or ever. Go hard or go home.
Weirdly, in this period of crazy change I’ve been finding comfort in the wise words of Amy Poehler (whose fantastic book I’ve been tearing through): “Because what else are we going to do? Say no? Say no to an opportunity that may be slightly out of our comfort zone? Quiet our voice because we are worried it is not perfect? I believe great people do things before they are ready.”
So here’s to jumping in with both feet and taking scary opportunities to see where they might take us (as an aside, I’m feeling pretty smug about how good my husband is at card-buying).
Just in case you’re not ready for the weekend to be over, here are a few links that I’ve enjoyed this week:
